The month of February is when we celebrate Football vs homophobia, a time to tackle anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination in Football. Luckily, safe spaces like Saltire Thistle Football Club in Glasgow provide a welcoming space for LGBT+ players like Scott, who, since joining, has made many new friends. Watch his story⚽️

In 2022, Jake Daniels became the first UK male professional footballer to come out publicly as gay since Justin Fashanu, but there's still lots of work that needs to be done to make sure the world of Football is as inclusive as it could be and that's why Football vs Homophobia this month is so important.🏳️‍🌈 This is also the reason why Saltire Thistle Football Club exists to create an inclusive football team. Harry is one of our regional ambassadors, as well as a media educator. In this video, he talks about the importance of positive media representation and how the classroom environment has changed over the years. His story includes challenges with coming out, unpacking gender as a construct and helping others to be themselves in the classroom, by being himself as a teacher. There are some top tips for anyone thinking of coming out and some information about an exciting project that he is working on.

Zoey is a singer-songwriter, blogger, jewellery-maker and a children’s author. She came out as trans in 2019 and was worried about the impact it might have, including how people in her life would react. Instead she found self acceptance and a supportive community. Zoey has written a children’s book, My Momma Zo, an empowering story of a family supporting each other through happy and challenging times.

Makayla tells us her story. From a Christian Caribbean household where her feminine traits weren't always celebrated, to RuPaul's Drag Race. She shares her advice, love for anyone going through anything similar, and a reminder that it does get better.

As part of our Your Story Matters campaign, Zofija shares her story. She says her personal acceptance and transition was the hardest and most beautiful journey.

Alison has shared her story with us, from health challenges, struggles with identity and low self confidence. Life lacked direction and she struggled to function, but with help from family, friends and therapy, things started turning around. Alison has some brilliant advice, including the importance of believing in yourself, finding your people, doing what you love and dreaming big.
