“I came to the realisation that I am trans and there’s nothing I can do about it. I realised - that is me. I’ve tried so many roles. Why not try that one role that I’ve never try given myself the option to try?” - Eva Echo, It Gets Better UK - The Podcast: Episode 7

Eva Echo is an activist, writer, and public speaker with a passionate focus on transgender rights and mental health. Eva’s activism is wide-ranging - from having taken legal action against NHS England over wait times for trans patients, to being part of the organising team at Birmingham Pride.
In 2017, Eva began documenting her transition via a blog - which grew in popularity, eventually winning awards and international recognition. As part of their activism, Eva is a Champion for It Gets Better UK. In episode 7 of our recent podcast series, our host Ross talks to her all about coming out online.
“I wouldn’t say I came out - I kind of fell out. That’s the best way I can describe it. I started a new instagram account, and thanks to the algorithm, people I knew were suggested it. And I was writing a blog, and I did a post on my blog that was an FAQ about me coming out. I literally posted a link to the FAQ, and said “I’m rebranding”!”
